The folks at the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) have something to say about the movies… My friends, they have decided that Malayalam films won’t be shown at PVR INOX theaters until there’s a deal to make up for the money lost when new movies weren’t shown. Why? Because of a disagreement between the Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) over sharing movie content… Do you agree with the decision of (FEFKA)?
During a meeting on April 13, the FEFKA gang decided they were not playing around. They’re getting more serious about their protest against the company. Hmm… PVR INOX didn’t show new movies like Fahadh Faasil’s “Aavesham,” Vineeth Sreenivasan’s “Varshangalkku Shesham,” and Unni Mukundan’s “Jai Ganesh.” They even stopped showing older Malayalam films like “Premalu,” “Manjummal Boys,” and “Aadujeevitham.” What are your thoughts about this situation???
B. Unnikrishnan, the FEFKA guy, said they’re planning protests outside PVR INOX theaters if this isn’t fixed… He also mentioned they’re asking Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to help out. Do you feel it is an overacting?
The company got even tougher after saying KFPA told them to only get Malayalam movies from one source – the producers’ association… That’s not cool according to them, saying it’s against the law to force them into that. They’re saying they can’t go along with that demand since they’re good citizens of the Indian Film Industry. Yeah yeah, Do you agree on it? They have the complete right to play their movies in theaters…
Blessy, the director of “Aadujeevitham,” said his producer lost a bunch of money when the movie got pulled from PVR INOX screens… Even though they paid in advance, the movie still didn’t get shown. It is not fair. If it does not stop, then it will become a miserable situation.
KFPA recently started something called PDC (Producers’ Digital Cinema) to help with this kind of thing… Good! They’re trying to cut costs for showing movies since the fees from other content providers were too high… It is not fair!!! The plan is to switch over to PDC once their current deals with other providers end. Yes!!! Even though it’s been tough, the producers and distributors are still trying to work things out by paying high fees in the meantime. Do you agree with (PDC)?
So, that’s the scoop – Malayalam movies are off the screen at PVR INOX until everyone can figure out a fair deal. I have covered all the information that I know and wrote my own opinions about this situation. What are our thoughts and feelings about this situation? Stay tuned for future updates…
